CAMP DESCRIPTION
At the Bo Reed High Altitude Distance camp we will focus on many facets of distance training geared toward junior high and high school athletes, including mental and physical preparation, nutrition, weight/ cross-training, coach-ability, goal setting, teamwork and cohesiveness, college prep and the runner as a professional.
Our High Altitude Distance Camp lead coach is Bo Reed, 3-time Olympic Trial Finalist in the 10,000 meters and our counselors include NAU alumni, Travis Laird, Scottsdale Community College Head Track and Field and Cross Country coach Josh Trask, University of Arizona Assistant Distance Track Coach Erin Rodrigs and NAU alumni Julie Fisher. They have been working with Bo Reed for a minimum of three years and fully understand the principles under which his coaching program lies. |
CAMP MISSION
The mission of the Bo Reed High Altitude Distance Camp is to make you a better and faster runner by becoming a smarter runner. We will provide group and individual instruction to athletes in various aspects of distance running. Campers will be instructed by expert coaches and elite athletes that will keep you in a fun learning environment.
You will leave Camp with practical knowledge and techniques that can be incorporated into any athletic sports program. Some topics covered include events specific training, running mechanics, plyometrics, (low impact) conditioning circuits, nutrition, injury prevention, hurdle circuits, cross training, race strategies (team and individual) transitions (natural and self induced), hill racing and training and many other aspects of distance running. |
